Background

• A little about Aerynl's past

  Aerynl -- pronounced "Ay-Rin-(u)l" -- AKA Aer, Aeryn, Ryn
  
  Aerynl was a product of experiments by a scientist whose true name she never heard, but whom she and the other subjects called "The Snake Doctor" or "Professor Snake" for his obsession with snake hybrids and gene-mutation. During her time in the lab, she saw naga, lamia, and witnessed the creation of many cross-breeds -- including a failed attempt of a snake-skunk cross, and a serpentine man-eating plant.
  
  He used many human children in his experiments, implanting cross-genes that would generally end in failure and the death of the subject; so he decided on more enhancements for the subject to help them better endure the pain and perhaps survive. At age four, after many experiments and enhancements to her strength and endurance, Aerynl received an implanted cross-gene of a snake and wolf.
  
  The experiment was one of his few successes, but not without great cost, since she had been born something more than just a human girl -- she had a link to fire, and the enhancements had paved the way for her pyrokinetic abilities to surface that much easier. The extreme pain her body went through from the implant sent her into shock and she blacked out. She awoke buried underneath a layer of the burnt remains of the lab -- the rest of the lab had been exploded away from her in a radius and lay around her like a crater.
  
  She climbed out with wounds, but ultimately free for the first time. She's lived from then to now on her own, proud of having made her own way, of surviving, and of her ability to hunt.

  She is deathly afraid of Scientists so that even though she keeps up her "smiling" appearance, if one gets -too- close to her, the fear will be evident in her eyes. Labs are strictly off limits, but if someone dares her, she's the type who Hates turning back on a challenge, even if it's impossible or scary. Thunderstorms and Lightning force her to hide somewhere where she can wait it out alone -- not only does rain make her weak, but Lightning (electricity in general, really) is certainly not something she ever wants to encounter after her days of shock and chemicals and implants at the old lab.
